HELPS – Housing and Homecare for the Elderly and vulnerable people and Local Partnership Strategies in Central European cities
Scope: transnational

HELPS project is a three-year strategic project financed by the transnational cooperation programme Central Europe. The project consortium consists of 14 partners from 8 European countries (Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland, Hungary) and is led by the administration of Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Italy.

The project promotes development strategies and practices improving the quality of life of vulnerable groups with a strategic focus on elderly and people with disabilities in urban areas of Central Europe. In particular, HELPS project aims to develop and consolidate innovative housing and care solutions by supporting models of integrated local governance able to orient policies, products and services.

Within the three-year project implementation, the following activities are carried out:
  • Research: analysis and evaluation of housing and care options for elderly and people with disabilities in the participating countries.
  • Experimentations: realization of eight pilot actions in order to test innovative services for home living.
  • Strategies: on the basis of emerged results, an elaboration of strategic documents intended to influence decision-making processes at local, national and transnational level.
Timeframe: October 2011 – September 2014 (36 months)
Financial resources: EUR 2.670.229 of which EUR 2.133.975,35 is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and remaining budget is covered by partners’ contribution.
